Creating A BEE
Before starting, have a look at some bees.
A) Simple BEE.
B) More Complicated BEE.
C) Students' Bees.
Let's start. It is best to create the bee in the library.

1) Create bee in library.
>Insert >New Symbol.
Name it bee and select Movie Clip. Press OK.
That moves you to the library. You know you are in the library because there seems to be no end to the document and there is a cross hair in the center. Try to create the bee in the center of your cross hair. You can toggle back to the document by selecting Scene1 in the upper right corner of the tool bar. If you are in the document (or scene1) page, you can go back to the library by double clicking the bee symbol in the library window.
I will try to find a picture to help me see the details. I looked on the internet. Here is a picture I found. I think I'll create the Drone.

2) Create the body only, not the wings on layer1
. Before getting started, change the name of layer1 by double clicking on the layer name and typing body when it turns black.
I drew the tail using the pen tool and the brush tool.

This is a major part of your project so take your time. Don't forget to stop after you have created the body because the wings need to created on a separate layer. Now I have completed the entire body.

3) Make a new layer and create one wing action.
>Insert >Layer
Double click on Layer2 and rename the layer to wing1. Be sure to create the wing on this layer. You may want to lock the body layer by clicking on the dot below the lock on the body layer. Also the layer you are working on is the highlighted layer.

Now draw one view of the wings.

4) Create the next wing movement.
Next we will create the next movement of the wings.
>Insert >Layer. Name the layer wing2.
Draw or copy the next movement.
I just copied and pasted and moved the first wing layer.
Double click wing1 layer to select it. >Edit > Copy.
Select the wing2 layer and >Edit >Paste. I used the Transform Tool
and the select tool to move the wings.

5) Create a third wing movement.
>Insert >Layer. Name the layer wing3.
Draw or copy the next movement.
I just copied and pasted and moved the first wing layer.
Double click wing1 layer to select it. >Edit > Copy.
Select the wing3 layer and >Edit >Paste.
>Modify >Transform > Flip Horizontally. A few adjustments and it is ready.

6) Make the wings move.
Select the body layer.
>Insert >Keyframe.
>Insert >Keyframe.
>Insert >Keyframe.
Now you have four frames, one for wing1, two for wing2, and one for wing3.

Select the wing1 layer.
>Edit >Copy.
Select the body layer, frame 1.(Note: Frame1, not just the layer but the frame. The frame is in red in the image below.)

>Edit >Paste in Place.

Select the wing2 layer.
>Edit >Copy.
Select the body layer, frame 2.
>Edit >Paste in Place.

Select the wing3 layer.
>Edit >Copy.
Select the body layer, frame 3.
>Edit >Paste in Place.

Select the wing2 layer.
>Edit >Copy.
Select the body layer, frame 4.
>Edit >Paste in Place.

Hide the wing layers by selecting below the eyeball.

>Control >Loop Playback
>Control >Test Movie.
Save your work.

In order for this to work in the scene, you need to delete the wing layers.
Select each wing layer and select the trash can. Now you just have the body layer.
Here is the movie so far.

Now let's move on to create the plant. Click here.
