Half a Shield (the pen tool)

1) Open your coat of arms document in photoshop.

2) Select a gray color. (We will be changing the color later).

3) Select the pen tool.

4) Draw half a shield. (This is very tricky so be patient with yourself. You may need to try several times before you are satisfied with your work. Using the pen tool involves placing the pen in the appropriate spot, clicking the mouse, moving the pen to the next appropriate spot, clicking the mouse, and finding the third appropriate location and pressing the mouse and dragging it to create to proper curve.)

A) Find the point at 2 inches and 1 1/2 inches and click once on the mouse.

B) Find the point 1/2 inch and 1 1/2 inches and click the mouse once.

C) Find point 2 inches and 5inches and click the mouse and drag to the lower right corner. When you are happy with your half shield shape, release the mosue.

If you are unhappy with your positioning, simply press Control Z (Apple Z for Mac) to undo the last step and try again.

Deselect your document by selecting the selection tool and clicking anywhere on the document.

Save your work.
